Moving Horizons

Moving Horizons

In 2017 Lucy was project artist on Moving Horizons, a project run by Articulate charity in association with the Hummingbird Project and based at Fabrica Gallery and the BYC in Brighton.

Moving Horizons inspired a number of vulnerable and geographically displaced young people seeking asylum in the UK to create large scale, celebratory kites for the Brighton Kite Festival . The artistic activity encouraged young participants, from a rich mixture of diverse countries and cultures to engage with professional artists and makers over a period of time in creating craft art work that was bold and bright and responded to new found surroundings; celebrating home, identity and culture.

The creation of the kites was led by the young people and facilitated by the artists, and a variety of mediums were be explored and utilised.  This creative, multi-layered approach and outcome celebrated a fusion of culture and life experience.
