Delivering a workshop to This New Ground Collective

Lucy Groenewoud

“My biggest joy is working with people and seeing the happiness creativity and learning new skills brings. I believe in a person-centred approach to creativity. I plan my creative engagements to be accessible and inclusive for participants with different access requirements and most importantly fun, collaborative and engaging”

Lucy studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where she explored her love of all things letterpress and typography. She worked as a freelance Graphic Designer for many years before going back in 2017 to study for an MA in Inclusive Arts Practice at University of Brighton. Lucy’s research during her MA focussed on engagement and art in the moment. Asking the question: “Can impactful connection enable moments of creative potential?”

Lucy has continued to use her research learnings to inform her current work in the field of socially engaged arts. She works as an artist facilitator, designing and delivering inclusive, high-quality art and design workshops.

Lucy has worked on a number of exciting and innovative projects with arts organisations and health providers. She is Co-Director of This New Ground Collective, an ambitious initiative with hubs in Hammersmith and Fulham and the City of Portsmouth that seeks to elevate the artistic voices and talents of people with learning disabilities.

She continues to work as a freelance designer, specialising in accessible and easy read design.
